The renovation works of the hydraulic infrastructures on Capitán Cortés street will be completed before the end of June, thus before the start of the summer season. The pace of the work has not suffered any delays, and as such, the four-month execution period planned at the beginning of this intervention will be met.
At this moment, the tasks for the installation of the rainwater collection network on the street have already been completed, and the trenches for the potable water network are being carried out. The Water Cycle councilor, José Ramón González de Zárate, who has visited the ongoing works, has announced that action will be taken at the two schools in the area – Bautista Lledó and Aitana – where a small rainwater network will be created to connect with the street’s network «to prevent rainwater from accumulating in the courtyards,» without affecting the normal traffic of these centers. The rainwater network on Capitán Cortés will connect its branches to the main conduit running alongside Parque de Foietes. Once these tasks are completed, the pavement will be restored, leaving the street with universal accessibility and new signage.
The councilor has also expressed great satisfaction «because the work is progressing smoothly, on time, to finish before the summer.» He reiterated that it is a «much-needed» intervention after confirming that the sanitation infrastructures «were very deteriorated, as their initial installation dated back more than 30 years.»
This deterioration of the infrastructures caused continuous deficiencies in the service «making it essential to renovate them.» The budget for the intervention, being carried out by the company Aquambiente, amounts to 399,997.89 euros. The main part of the work includes the comprehensive renovation of the potable water supply network, sewer system, and the installation of a rainwater network.
According to González de Zárate, the aim was a «global solution» for these services according to current needs and future demands, taking into account the actions already carried out with the municipal works of the EDUSI project in the Zona Estación.
Therefore, the works complement those carried out at the time included in the EDUSI with the renovation of the rainwater network in Colonia Madrid and a part of Capitán Cortés. «Now we are finishing the rainwater network and also the sewer system of a very important area,» the councilor pointed out. The works also involve improving the urban scene on the surface and planting new trees. «It is an intervention in line with those we have carried out in other neighborhoods and areas of the city,» he said.
