Dispositivo especial de tráfico en Alicante para el fin de semana

Alicante faces a new special traffic plan this weekend with cuts and detours in the city center (Town Hall, Principal Theater, and Castillo-Rambla roundabout) and the coastal area (between Paseo de los Mártires and the quarry, and Denia avenue up to the elevated roundabout access to Jaime II avenue) due to the celebration of the events proclaiming the Belleas del Foc, the inaugural gala of the Alicante Film Festival, Museum Day, and the MTRI Alicante triathlon. From Thursday morning until Sunday afternoon, different road diversions will be implemented by Mobility agents of the Local Police, as well as affected urban bus lines.

Urban Mobility Councilor Carlos de Juan recommends drivers to «avoid using private vehicles as much as possible from Thursday around the Town Hall, Saturday afternoon near the Principal Theater, and throughout the weekend in the coastal area, Castillo roundabout (Jaime II avenue), and Rambla due to various festive, cultural events, and sports activities.» «In addition, buses circulating on Theater Street will be diverted via Alfonso El Sabio on Saturday evening between seven and nine o’clock due to the Film Festival gala,» the councilor warned.

De Juan suggests using public transportation for this weekend and for those using private vehicles, to use the urban belts of Gran Vía and Vía Parque to access the city center and bypass the city, as well as utilizing dissuasive parking lots and downtown parking.

Proclamation of the Belleas del Foc

On Friday and Saturday night, the Federació de Fogueres de Sant Joan organizes the proclamation events for the Infant and Adult Bellea del Foc, respectively. Starting Thursday at 10 in the morning, traffic cuts will be established on the access from the Town Hall to Rafael Altamira Street, extending until 12 o’clock on Sunday. Additionally, parking reservations will be restricted on this street and Jorge Juan Street, as well as a lane on San Fernando Street, between Ingeniero Lafarga and María José Ágreda y Muñoz streets, on both Friday and Saturday.

Alicante Film Festival

The celebration of the inaugural gala of the Alicante Film Festival on Saturday the 17th will also affect city traffic, around the Principal Theater with traffic diversions from 7 to 9 pm on Theater Street at the height of Bazán Street (only authorized vehicles with actors attending the gala will be allowed). Between 2 and 12 pm, parking of vehicles will also be prohibited on Bazán Street, between Médico Pascual Pérez and Theater Street, and on Duque de Zaragoza Street between Bailén and La Rambla.

The closure of Theater Street will require diverting urban bus lines 2, 3, 12, 21, and 22 from Federico Soto Avenue to Alfonso X el Sabio between 7 and 9 pm to resume their regular route. Additionally, on Saturday the 17th, Villavieja Street will also be closed to traffic from 9 pm to midnight due to the International Museum Day celebrations, to facilitate access to the Contemporary Art Museum of Alicante (MACA).

MTRI Alicante 2025 Triathlon

The MTRI Alicante 2025 triathlon will also take place this weekend, on May 17 and 18, involving road closures on main city streets. Specifically, on Saturday the 17th, limitations will be in place from 7 am to 1 pm on Juan Bautista Lafora, Jovellanos, Villajoyosa Avenue (quarry) in both directions on both sides of the median. The right lane of Paseo de Gómiz (opposite Postiguet) will also be barricaded, blocking traffic in Paseito Ramiro Square, and Gravina, Niágara, and Jorge Juan streets.

On Sunday the 18th, the triathlon circuit will be extended from 6 am to 1:30 pm from Mártires Promenade through Juan Bautista Lafora and Denia Avenue to the roundabout towards Jaime II Avenue, Rambla, San Fernando, Cervantes, and Puerta del Mar Square, with traffic lanes in these areas being closed during certain times.
