
Alicante, March 18, 2025. Tourists in Alicante are increasingly enjoying their vacations throughout the year, and in order to better serve them and make their stay more attractive, the City Council and Vectalia, the urban transport concessionaire, are advancing the launch of the Turibús to Father’s Day, the feast of San José. This service was used by 31,125 passengers in 2024, with a 5% increase in just one year.
This bus service has its starting point in Plaza Puerta del Mar with departures on the hour between 10 am and 1 pm and between 4 pm and 6 pm, following a circular route of one hour with 11 stops, offering affordable prices of 5, 10, and 7 euros for children, adults, and seniors.
The Councilor for Urban Mobility, Carlos de Juan, highlighted, «This year we are advancing the launch of this tourist service to the feast of San José, Father’s Day, to meet the growing demand resulting from the increase in tourists choosing Alicante as their vacation destination.» «The bus was renovated last year with the award of the new contract, extending the operating period and improving the service with more modern means and offering an audio guide in six languages, making this visit to the city a very attractive option,» emphasized the councilor.
The vehicle has 70 seats, distributed on two levels, and offers simultaneous translation in six languages with headphones, as well as being accessible to people with reduced mobility.
Starting on Wednesday, March 19, the Turibús will start running and will offer guided tours to tourists in six languages: Spanish, Valencian, English, French, German, and Italian, on a one-hour route to visit the eleven unique places and monuments of the city, with the possibility of getting on and off at each stop to visit the monuments or shop all day or transfer to other urban bus lines.
Each year, the number of users of this service increases. If in 2023 there were 29,713 people who boarded the Turibús, last year there were 31,125, a 5% increase in just one year. The Turibús has its starting point in Plaza Puerta del Mar (between the port and Postiguet Beach), with departures every hour on the hour between 10 am and 1 pm and between 4 pm and 6 pm seven days a week. It makes stops every five minutes, approximately, at the main tourist attractions of Alicante: Santa Bárbara Castle (Postiguet elevator), Provincial Archaeological Museum (MARQ) and connection with the shuttle to the castle, Rambla (Traditional Center Commerce, Old Town, Town Hall, Co-Cathedral of San Nicolás, Basilica of Santa María,…), Plaza de España (Bullring, Bullfighting Museum, ADDA and Las Cigarreras), Central Market (Principal Theater), Plaza de los Luceros, Federico Soto and Maisonnave (commercial and department store area), Bus Station (Air Raid Shelters) and Port (Museum Ocean Race Village).
Furthermore, it connects with the main TRAM stops at MARQ, Central Market, and Luceros, as well as with urban and interurban transport lines.
The Turibús has been operational since last year within the concession that the City Council has with Vectalia MIA between March 19 and December 8, with prices of 5 euros for children, 10 for adults, and 7 for seniors.
