
Lidia López highlights the «celebration of flavor, creativity, and Alicante identity» on World Tapas Day and the year of the Spanish Gastronomy Capital
Alicante, June 16, 2025. Alicante combines Hogueras, tapas, and gastronomic capital during these Festivities with a special action at the «Hogueras Market» located in Federico Soto. From next Wednesday the 18th until the 24th, a typical tapa from Alicante made with local products will be offered, accompanied by the participation of chefs who will promote local cuisine.
The Councilor for Hospitality, Commerce, and Markets, Lidia López, has highlighted the «celebration of flavor, creativity, and Alicante identity» coinciding this Monday with World Tapas Day and Alicante’s year as the Spanish Gastronomy Capital during the presentation of the «Tapas del Mercadito» held at the El Maestral restaurant.
On the other hand, the Communication Director of Vectalia, Ezequiel Moltó, has encouraged «Alicante residents and visitors to enjoy this initiative that highlights the fact that Alicante is the Spanish Gastronomy Capital, a fact that will be very present throughout all the Hogueras celebrations.»
The presentation was attended by the Bellea del Foc, Adriana Vico, the president of the Federació de Fogueres, David Olivares, representatives of the city’s hospitality associations, and chefs.
The tapas that can be tasted along with a drink for the price of five euros are pericana with coca de mollitas, brevas with Sereix cheese, arugula and Modena reduction, Mutxamel tomato tartare with pickles and salted fish, and soparet alacantí. Each day, between the 18th and the 24th, one of them will be offered.
In addition, on June 18, 19, 20, and 21, from 12:00 to 12:45, just before the Mascletá, gastronomic advisor Rocío Riquelme and chefs from Alicante restaurants will promote local cuisine at the «Hogueras Market.»
On Wednesday the 18th, Moncho Riquelme from Casa Riquelme Restaurant will attend; on Thursday the 19th, Pablo Montoro from Espacio Montoro Restaurant; on Friday the 20th, Pedro Juan Sánchez from La Muralla Restaurant in Tabarca; and on Saturday the 21st, Alejandra Cedeño from Sabolé Restaurant.
