
Alicante, March 31, 2025. The City Council of Alicante has launched a new edition of the Free Training and Leisure Plan organized by the Educational Center for Consumer Resources of Alicante -Cerca- for the next quarter from April to June. The proposal also includes a wide range of activities from the ‘Cerca de los barrios’ program, with activities aimed at promoting learning and entertainment in the Municipal Community Centers for all audiences with specialized courses, talks, workshops, and visits.
The program starts this week with two talks, the first one on Tuesday about ‘What are we going to eat today? Healthy consumption, and on Wednesday, the conference given by the president of the Association of Restaurants of Alicante, Gabriela Córdoba, on ‘Flavor and evolution: Alicante’s dining scene at its best version’, at the Cerca facilities.
This week, there is also a talk at the Gastón Castelló Community Center about Property Communities to address people’s doubts or problems with the community. As well as a workshop on healthy breakfasts and snacks, held at the Playas Community Center on April 8, from 5 to 7 pm.
The Councilor for Consumption and Commerce, Lidia López, presented the plan emphasizing that «the initiative proposes a program of leisure and specialized courses that will also be taught this quarter in the Community Centers to bring them closer to the neighborhoods and at the Cerca.» The councilor invited participation, stating, «It is an opportunity to attend free talks and workshops designed to improve the quality of life of citizens.»

Courses and workshops on new technologies, cooking, and market visit
In April, the proposal includes courses to learn how to use the mobile phone and make simple online purchases. As well as training on dealings with the administration through digital certificates. Sustainable Consumption courses and a guided visit to the Central Market.
Cooking, especially this year when we are the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy, also holds a special place in the program with a series of courses starting on April 9, with a workshop to make ‘toñas’ with ‘Cooking with Chelo’. Various chefs will provide demonstrations on April 11 to learn how to cook Mediterranean diet recipes with the workshop ‘Our cuisine. Our products’, or the workshop ‘From the Kitchen to the Table’, taught by health professionals from the Santa Faz Health Center at the Cerca.
Councilor Lidia López pointed out that «Cerca also offers a formative experience with practical workshops, with those on food and cooking being the most successful in connecting with citizens and offering them new knowledge on healthy leisure, nutrition, and well-being that are so trendy.»
May and June courses program
In May, we will visit the Ildefonso Prats Fire Station, there will be courses to learn to cook an inclusive sustainable menu taught by the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts degree from the University of Alicante. As well as an extensive range of courses on new technologies, e-commerce, among others.
In June, the proposal includes workshops on cooking to learn how to prepare healthy recipes, learn how to shop online, make online purchases at the Central Market of Alicante, fill out the income tax return, pay municipal taxes at cyber kiosks, and a talk given by the Bank of Spain on ‘Learning to plan our personal finances’.
‘Cerca de los barrios’
At the Community Centers, you can check the program planned by Cerca for this quarter, with workshops on Nutrition to learn about the main food pathologies, their causes, and treatments. Courses on online shopping, Nutrition for people over 50, Clothing recycling, Banking services, New technologies, and telematic ways of interacting with the Administration, among other initiatives.
