Alicante, April 13, 2025. The Alicante City Council has approved in the Government Board the classification of the proposals submitted to the public tender to contract the supply and maintenance service of vertical and horizontal signaling in the city, which was tendered for 2.7 million euros for two years, extendable for one more year. The Temporary Union of Companies formed by the companies Aceinsa Levante S.A. and Aceinsa Movilidad S.A., is the one with the highest score out of the 20 proposals submitted to be awarded the contract with an economic offer of 2,193,841.19 euros, making it the likely winner of the contract.
The Councilor for Urban Mobility, Carlos de Juan, explains that «this service includes the works and projects related to the installation of all elements that serve for the organization and regulation of traffic on the road network of the city of Alicante or that may affect public roads, through vertical, horizontal, and luminous signaling, any type of marking, guardrails of any kind, bollards, or any other element for organization, regulation, or control.»
Furthermore, the councilor emphasized that the terms of the public tender included the subrogation of the personnel responsible for these tasks, which consists of nine people including technicians and operators.
The contracting company will be responsible for supply, assembly, preservation, maintenance, modification, removal, operation, repainting, among other actions. Likewise, vertical signaling, horizontal signaling, and traffic diversion marking can be carried out under this project.
Enhanced road safety
De Juan highlighted «the effort of the City Council to renew major contracts for the maintenance of essential services in the city. In this case, vertical and horizontal signaling improves safety conditions for urban mobility, from pedestrians to private vehicles, including public transportation and other modes of transport.»
«Alicante has undergone numerous adaptations in recent years to streets and roads, particularly aimed at traffic calming. Specifically, the commitment to the ‘Alicante 30’ project, which limits the maximum speed to 30 km/h on one-way streets, and also the implementation of the Low Emission Zone. Additionally, special attention is given to streets with a single platform where pedestrian crossing and speed reduction to 20 km/h are prioritized, as well as a speed limit of 50 km/h on major roads with more than two lanes, where drivers must adhere to the established limits,» added the Councilor for Urban Mobility, Traffic, and Transportation.
«This, combined with the maintenance of parking areas, special reservations for people with reduced mobility, loading and unloading zones, or the operational traffic lights, along with the equipment of speed limit control systems, such as radars installed on main roads, require special attention and maintenance that this municipal service provides,» added the councilor.
