Apertura de la Oficina de Atención al Mayor en Benidorm

The Benidorm City Council has already opened to the public the Office of Attention to the Elderly for Digital Procedures, located in the administrative extension of Maravall and operating on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 09:00 to 12:00, as reported today by the mayor, Toni Pérez. This service is part of the ‘Benidorm TIC’ project, aimed at «combating the digital divide» and where «qualified personnel will advise the elderly in our municipality on how to carry out administrative procedures online, how to proceed in the renewal of documents, request public services, among others, using digital certificates, electronic ID or the Cl@ve system; or on the use of different platforms.»

The mayor detailed that «today the first appointments have already been attended, mainly focused on digital literacy and new technologies courses that complement the Benidorm TIC project.»

Toni Pérez emphasized that the Office of Attention to the Elderly «was a commitment of the local government, which is now a reality and with which we are advancing in inclusion by providing the elderly, and other vulnerable groups in their digital interactions with the administration, a service and tools to develop their digital skills and be able to navigate with greater autonomy.»

Once this service is up and running, the next step is the provision of free digital literacy courses. In this regard, he recalled that the last edition of ‘Benidorm TIC’ – funded with EDUSI funds – resulted in a hundred courses and nearly 900 students; figures that «confirmed not only the suitability of the project, but also the relevance of delving into it with a new ambitious edition, where in addition to continuing with this training work, a face-to-face service will be provided through the Office of Attention to the Elderly.»

The current ‘Benidorm TIC’ course project has a duration of 45 months, divided into three periods of 15 months each. In each period, 75 courses will be offered, with specific content according to the target group: elderly people, young people, children, people with disabilities, immigrants, etc. These courses will be held in different municipal spaces to facilitate attendance, such as the social centers ‘José Llorca Linares’ and ‘La Torreta’, the employment center ‘Pepita Puchades’, or the City Council itself.
