The Benidorm City Council through the Parks and Gardens Department has begun an action that is part of the ongoing work to improve the naturalization of El Moralet park. In this case, it involves replacing the metal perimeter fence located near the park entrance by the Mercasa area and running along Avenida de la Libertad with a wooden fence more in line with the park and area’s aesthetics.
It is a treated wooden fence that will span a length of about 150 meters from the roundabout at the park entrance to the next roundabout further up the mentioned avenue. The new wooden fence not only enhances the area’s image but also serves to protect the existing embankment.
The work also includes clearing the embankment. The intervention will last for about two weeks.
The Parks and Gardens Councillor, José Ramón González de Zárate, has visited the ongoing action and emphasized that the City Council «continues to invest in El Moralet, which is one of the city’s green gems.» González de Zárate recalled that another intervention in the same park worth 400,000 euros is in the tender phase, which will focus on the Xixo ravine area.
«At the point where we are, there is a metal perimeter fence that doesn’t give the feeling of being in such a special natural environment as this park, so we have decided to change it and replace it with a new wooden fence much more in line with the park and the surroundings,» stated the councillor. It is, he continued, «an important change in image» not only for residents and visitors «but also for the events that take place here, such as the Cyclocross World Cup that passes right in front of this point.»
In his opinion, with the fence replacement, «we achieve a much more dignified image,» while pointing out that El Moralet «is the venue for many events, and we must continue to improve it.» A improvement that will become more evident after achieving the ‘Blue Trail’ designation «that we will enhance and promote our nature,» concluded the councillor.
