Beldjilali points out that «it is necessary to request this loan in order to undertake important investments for the city, especially in the field of culture and heritage.»
Alicante, July 17, 2025. The Local Government Board approved on Wednesday, in an extraordinary and urgent session, to put out to tender a loan worth 4,888,810 euros that will be allocated to the investment chapter.
Among the projects that will be carried out with this loan, the rehabilitation works of the Casa de la Misericordia stand out, to which the bulk of the loan, 3.4 million, is destined. Investments are also planned for facilities, security, and vehicles for the Prevention, Firefighting, and Rescue Service (SPEIS) for a value close to 100,000 euros, as well as the purchase of machinery for various municipal services for 82,000 euros, among others.
The Councilor for Finance, Nayma Beldjilali, has stated that «it is necessary to request this loan in order to undertake important investments for the city, especially in the field of culture and heritage such as the rehabilitation works of the Casa de la Misericordia that will revitalize local culture and improve the entire urban environment of the neighborhoods of Carolinas, San Antón, and the slope of Benacantil.»
This investment in the Casa de la Misericordia is independent of the one contemplated in the second credit modification approved on Wednesday in the Finance Committee, which is intended for the modification of the project after the discovery of archaeological and heritage remains that will be integrated into the restored space.
The need to tender a long-term loan operation is due to the fact that in the municipal Budget for the year 2025, current revenues do not amount to the necessary amount to cover several actions in chapter 6, destined for investments.
