The project of the municipal pools of Phase II of the Water Center of San Vicente del Raspeig is already a reality. The proposal of the Government team, approved a few days ago, has been presented this morning by the mayor, Pachi Pascual, and the Sports councillor, Ricardo Bernabeu, who have committed to prioritize the bidding of the works. For the creation of this new sports and leisure space in the municipality, an initial budget of 4.2 million euros will be allocated with a 20-month execution period, starting from the award of the works.
Pascual has celebrated «that finally Phase 2 of the project has been completed, which includes changes and improvements compared to the initial idea, and now, the next step is to start as soon as possible all the procedures to award the construction as soon as the investments contemplated in the remnant are authorized.»
The mayor and the municipal architects have detailed that the construction will be carried out in phases of 14 and 6 months duration respectively. It will start first with the area where the two pools, indoor and outdoor, will be located, and then a comprehensive reform will be carried out to adapt the facilities to the regulations on accessibility and services.
Among the interventions, the replacement of coatings, the renovation of the ventilation system and access circuits, and the tuning of the engine room are contemplated. The project includes a covered space that will have a versatile pool with eight lanes, larger than the previous one equipped with 5, as well as a teaching pool and another medicinal pool for thermal treatments, all accessible. The existing changing rooms will also be completely remodeled to allow use by people with reduced mobility.
In the exterior area, bordering the covered area, will be dedicated to a 20×10 meter recreational pool accompanied by garden areas. The exterior structure will use concrete, metal, and glass as the main element to allow natural light to enter and enjoy the views of the green areas.
To maintain public service, while the works are being carried out, the current pool will remain in use, and once the new facilities are completed, its rehabilitation will begin.
From the Architecture area, it has been confirmed that the remnant for the year 2025 also includes the drafting of the project for the blue track cover and to provide new changing rooms for both these facilities and the fronton and the outdoor pool.
Pachi Pascual has emphasized that, with the plans put in motion, «we are fulfilling the commitment made to the citizens and demonstrating that one of our priorities is to conclude the Water Center of San Vicente as quickly as possible.» The mayor has recognized the importance of these new pools «highly demanded by both local clubs and all citizens.»
For his part, the Sports councillor has stated that «our responsibility is to live up to the users who use the pools every day and, of course, to our athletes, of whom we are tremendously proud to see how they achieve titles week after week throughout the national territory, so the best way to repay them is to provide these facilities that have been in high demand.»
Bernabeu has acknowledged that the Water Center «is another facility to continue betting on sports tourism because it opens the door to hosting the celebration of national school championships and other major events.»
