Alicante, February 25, 2025. Alicante is getting ready to celebrate Carnival, which will start this coming Thursday, February 27. A party in which merchants, hospitality, and municipal markets join by organizing activities and costume contests with promotions and offers, decorating their establishments, and participating in the campaign launched by the Department of Commerce and Hospitality of the City Council, led by councilor Lidia López.
The commercial sector, entities, Facpyme, and associations, together with the Alicante City Council, presented the Carnival poster this Tuesday, under the slogan ‘Whatever you’re looking for, it’s in your local store,’ and have prepared a social media and communication campaign.
The goal of this initiative is to attract customers in the neighborhoods and encourage them to choose to shop daily at nearby establishments and local businesses during the annual celebrations and festivals held in the city.
Councilor Lidia López stated, «These campaigns aim to give visibility to the local commerce throughout the year, which is the engine of our economy, unite the sector to strengthen it, and promote proximity consumption as a hallmark since small businesses play a fundamental role in the daily life of the city.»
Celebrations of activities, costumes, and offers during Carnival
On this occasion, and with the collaboration of representatives from associations and entities in the city, specialized Carnival parties have been organized, which will take place on Saturday morning, where merchants will dress up, and offers have been prepared for these special dates, as well as novelties and promotions in their establishments where this initiative is carried out.
The decoration of Carnival spaces, streets, and commercial establishments began this week to embellish the city and stimulate consumption, and they will join this event that brings together thousands of people and families of all ages on the traditional Saturday rambler.
The commercial revitalization campaign has been complemented with signage that can be seen in local businesses in Alicante. Councilor Lidia López emphasized that «they are yielding very good results, and we organize them throughout the year as a lure along with other initiatives such as grants and the consumption voucher, which have also become an important incentive for our commercial sector, bringing it closer to citizens and promoting shopping and leisure activities.»
Among the initiatives on Saturday, the Quintana area, other entities, and commercial areas have prepared costume activities in all their premises along with their association and encourage participation and joining in this celebration. Neighborhood shops and markets are decorated and offer promotions for these weeks. Additionally, in the Central Market square, a costume catwalk and a contest on Rambler Saturday organized by the Foguera have also been arranged.
Councilor Lidia López thanked everyone for their participation, stating, «The true protagonists are the customers who make their purchases in their nearby stores. They create a network of interpersonal connections that go beyond a simple commercial relationship due to daily proximity and the quality of their products.»
Through the Department of Commerce, Markets, and Hospitality, the City Council has implemented a municipal revitalization plan and promotes several campaigns throughout the year, such as the one organized last week with great success for Valentine’s Day, or the upcoming ones for Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Spring Festival, Halloween, and the important Christmas campaign.
