The Neighborhood Council has approved today the Self-Regulation of the Participatory Budget of the 2026 exercise during the session held in the municipal Plenary Hall. The new document has been approved with 14 votes in favor, one abstention, and no votes against.
The meeting was chaired by the mayor of Benidorm and president of the Council, Toni Pérez; the councilor for Citizen Participation, Ana Pellicer; and the first and second vice-presidents of the body, Antonio Zamora and Francisco Martínez.
This Self-Regulation has undergone some variations compared to the previous document, which was rejected at the last Neighborhood Council meeting. Thus, the main change introduced is the elimination of the Mixed Commission, the Evaluation Commission, and the Monitoring Commission, and the creation of a new one that will encompass the three and will be called the Participation Commission.
Likewise, the new Self-Regulation also includes an extension of the deadline for the online submission of proposals in order to increase neighborhood participation. Finally, it also includes the elimination of a quarterly committee, so from now on, a new Participatory Budget Committee will be created every year to which all members of the Neighborhood Council who wish to join can adhere.
