El videoarte inaugura la «Noche en Blanco» en La Lonja

Alicante, July 17, 2025. Video art arrives at the Exhibition Hall of La Lonja del Pescado this Friday and kicks off the «Noche en Blanco» in Alicante, where museums and cultural centers in the city participate under the joint brand MUSEA. The exhibition «An open field for experimentation. Videoteca de Castilla La Mancha» brings together the works of eleven artists, some emerging and others already established, and after its inauguration on Friday afternoon at 19:30, its curator Rafa Sierra will offer a guided tour.

The exhibition is made possible thanks to the collaboration between the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla La Mancha and the City Council of Alicante, to showcase the newly created video library of the Junta, featuring artists such as Miquel Navarro, Isabel Muñoz, José Manuel Ballester, Bernardí Roig, Dagoberto Rodríguez, Guillermo Fornes, Mar Solís, Kike Aspano, Francisco Caparrós, Rosa Muñoz, and Laura Lis.

«An open field for experimentation» can be visited at the Sala Tabarca until October 26. It joins two other exhibitions already at La Lonja, «Agua escrita», which combines the painting and photography of Rosa Juanco with the poetry of Fernando Beltrán, and the LASAL project by artist Guillermo Fornes.

«Noche en Blanco»

Guided tours of the exhibitions, family workshops, music, and film screenings for all tastes and ages make up the offering of the «Noche en Blanco», a traditional event in which municipal museums and cultural centers participate alongside those of the Alicante Provincial Council (MARQ and MUBAG), the MUA (University Museum of Alicante), the Water Museum of Alicante, and The Ocean Race Museum.

In the case of municipal facilities, alongside La Lonja, visitors can enjoy the MACA and its temporary exhibition of Kara Walker’s «Burning Village». On the other hand, the Las Cigarreras Cultural Center offers Summer Cinema La Trasera with live music. On Friday at 22:00 – PIRAÑA (Joe Dante, 1978. 90′. +16). The screening will feature live music interpretation by Cristina Cámara, a concert pianist, teacher, and official artist of the Candlelight concerts, professor at the «Óscar Esplá» Higher Conservatory of Music in Alicante. This activity is subsidized by the Alicante Provincial Council. Starting at 20:30, a refreshment area with drinks, snacks, and cold food will be opened. Access to the screening will be from 21:00. Language and subtitles in Spanish so that people with hearing difficulties can enjoy the summer cinema.

Attendees at Las Cigarreras can also visit the exhibitions 393 W BROADWAY, by Livia Daniel in Sala Negra and Sala Cero; and «Lo que brota. La Llavor Artística. Collective exhibition in Sala Caja Blanca.
