The drawing contest «Miradas de la Santa Faz» organized by the Department of Culture to disseminate the history of the monastery and the «Miracle of the Tear», as well as the Pilgrim, already has winners. In this edition of the contest, 1,200 drawings have been received and 15 schools have participated. «Miradas de la Santa Faz» is aimed at Primary school students from all public, private, and charter schools in the city who wish to participate. The contest is divided into two categories, A for students from 1st to 3rd grade, and B, from 4th to 6th grade. The prizes will be awarded at the School Pilgrimage that takes place in the days leading up to the pilgrimage to the monastery and consist of a complete set of Fine Arts supplies. Additionally, an exhibition will be held with the works created by the youngest participants.
The Councilor of Culture, Antonio Peral, has highlighted the «high participation» in this edition of the contest along with the fact that «it is a great satisfaction to see the level and originality of the works presented, where you can appreciate how they take care of the details of what they want to convey despite being between 6 and 12 years old.» Furthermore, the councilor pointed out that «the Santa Faz is part of the idiosyncrasy of Alicante and we see how future generations are interested in our history and are able to express their experiences and what they have learned in school about this tradition in a wonderful way.»
