The Alcoy City Council continues with preventive maintenance tasks aimed at reducing the risk of forest fires. This week, clearing work has been intensified in different areas of the municipal area, especially in zones with higher potential risk.
One of the main actions has been carried out on the axis for cyclists and pedestrians that connects the neighborhoods of Batoi and Zona Norte. Specifically, intervention has been carried out in the sections between Calle Perú and Isabel La Católica, as well as between Mestre José Ribera Montes and Batoi. Action has also been taken on the access track to Racó de Sant Bonaventura.
The Councilor for the Environment, Teresa Sanjuán, has emphasized: «These are basic actions for prevention. We usually say that fires are put out in winter, but it is also essential to act now, when the heat has dried out the vegetation that grew in spring. In winter, these herbs are not there.»
In addition, from the Department of Works, clearing and cleaning work has been planned on the municipal road network, totaling 11.55 kilometers. Starting on Monday, June 16, in the evening, an approximate duration of two weeks is expected.
