Alicante, May 23, 2025.- Guided tourist visits to the Plaza de Toros de Alicante, which include virtual reality among other points of interest, have exceeded 11,000 people in the first four months of 2025. These figures, compared to the same period last year, represent an increase of over 2,800 attendees. The month that received the most visits to the Plaza de España bullring, since this tourist attraction started operating in October 2023, was last February when 3,320 people visited the different areas of the bullring.
The upward trend recorded last April confirms the data from the first quarter of this year, which showed an increase in the number of visits. In the first year, from October 2023 to October 2024, over 30,000 visitors were welcomed. This last month saw the highest attendance with 3,190 people.
Tourists from Poland, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and France are the ones who have used the so-called ‘La Plaza. Alicante Tour’, endorsed by the councilor of the Plaza de Toros, Mari Carmen de España. The Puerta Grande, Patio de Cuadrillas, stands, chapel, infirmary, bullpens, corrals, presidency, museum – where you can experience virtual reality – and a salon bullfight practice in the bullring itself make up the guided tour.
Audio guides and virtual reality
The audio guides distributed upon entering the bullring facilitate the understanding of the visit. They are available in six languages: Spanish, English, Polish, French, German, and Italian. The virtual reality experience allows you to fly over the Plaza de Toros de Alicante, simulate the route the bull takes from the bullpens to the arena, and experience what it’s like to bullfight in the field. In this case, at the ‘Lo Álvaro’ cattle farm, owned by Juan Pedro Domecq Morenés.
Entrance tickets are available at www.plazatorosalicante.com. From there, you can access a ticket sales platform that is the same as the Thyssen and Reina Sofía museums, the ‘Santiago Bernabéu’ tour, or the Sagrada Familia. It is linked to the websites of major tour operators and allows different agents in the tourism sector to make their reservations directly to the bullring.
‘La Plaza Alicante Tour’ also offers more personalized individual and group visits, with their own guides. Additionally, it provides combined visits with a gastronomic experience at the bullring itself, or a visit to Santa Bárbara Castle. During the bullring visit, you can admire it from one of the stands of the Plaza de España bullring.
