San Vicente del Raspeig Town Hall has put out to tender the contract for the construction works of Phase II of the Water Center of the municipality, which includes the construction of a facility with four pools, three covered and one outdoor.
The mayor, Pachi Pascual, has confirmed that «we are closer to making this great project a reality for the people of San Vicente because, starting today and for 26 days, interested companies can submit their bids to carry out these new facilities that the city so desperately needs, equipped for sports, leisure, and health improvement.»
Pascual detailed that yesterday, through an urgent procedure, the Government Board approved the tendering process for the pools with a budget of over 4.2 million euros spread over three annual installments, in 2025, 2026, and 2027. The mayor expressed his confidence «that the works can start this year, as we committed to, as the deadlines we set are being met.»
The Urban Planning Department began working on this project at the beginning of the term as one of the priority actions established by the Government team. Once the technical proposal was completed, the execution of the works was guaranteed with the inclusion of its amount in the approved surpluses on April 30th.
The next planned steps, after the 26-day tender period, are to evaluate the received bids, award the contract, and start the construction process this year, which will last around 20 months, divided into two phases that will begin after formalizing the contract with the selected construction company.
The mayor indicated that changes have been introduced in the project to improve the new infrastructure expected to open in 2027. The works will start with the area where the two pools, covered and outdoor, will be located, followed by a comprehensive refurbishment to adapt the current facilities to accessibility and service regulations, replace coatings, and renew ventilation, access circuits, and the engine room.
The covered space, with a concrete, metal, and glass structure to allow natural light entry, will have a versatile pool with eight lanes, larger than the previous one equipped with 5 lanes, a teaching pool, and a medical pool for thermal treatments, all with access for people with reduced mobility, as well as new changing rooms. Outside, a leisure pool of 20×10 meters will be installed with garden areas.
