Nace en San Vicente del Raspeig el primer campus de Percusión Sinfónica.

San Vicente del Raspeig City Council will debut next week the I Symphonic Percussion Campus ‘Percusinf. Symphonic percussion endless rhythm‘, a pioneering initiative organized by the Department of Culture in collaboration with Marakatá Percussion. The councilors of Culture, Óscar Lillo, and Education, Melania Llopis, have presented the proposal with the aim of completing the training process of young musicians with renowned percussionists linked to the municipality.

The campus will bring together 29 students from different provinces of Spain, including Alicante, Valencia, Balearic Islands, Oviedo, Murcia, and Castilla-La Mancha. The selected students are studying both basic and advanced percussion. Lillo has detailed that «the initial goal set by the organization, which was to train 20 students, has been far exceeded due to the level of the faculty, this first edition of Percusinf has aroused great interest.»

The head of Culture has thanked the collaboration of all the local entities and professionals involved and justified that the campus is held in San Vicente «for being a land with very good musicians and because we have great references in the world of symphonic percussion spread throughout the world, such as Raúl Camarasa or Lorenzo Ferrández, and also Pablo Gutiérrez or Raúl Mayans, who is not from San Vicente, but almost.»

The councilor of Education has also expressed the «pride for San Vicente to host this activity» that will take place over 4 days and includes 3 concerts open to the public. The first of them will be on Tuesday, July 22 at 9:30 p.m. at the Municipal Auditorium, where a tribute to Joan Iborra will be performed by Kinetic Percussion Duo. At the same time, on Wednesday, July 23, the prestigious Batucada Percusinf will leave from the Auditorium to invite the citizens to enjoy music on the street and join in with a drum. These days will end on Thursday, July 24 at 9:30 p.m. with a closing concert where seven percussion pieces played by the students in homage to the maestro Espinós will be performed, who will be present during the performance.

At the presentation of Percusinf, the course coordinator Rafael Pastor has also attended, who has provided details of the prepared program, and the musicians Raúl Camarasa and Iván Ortega, known as Cuco Chelinni. Camarasa has acknowledged that «after many years working around the world, I have many things to contribute to teaching and being able to do it from my home is a pride.» He has also emphasized «that we have a very important land of percussionists with a historical quarry that started with the maestro Joan Iborra and has filled the world with percussionists, including Espinós, who was our teacher.»
