Programa de actividades por el Día de la Mujer en Benidorm

The Council for Equality of the City Council of Benidorm has organized an extensive and varied program of events to commemorate International Women’s Day, which is celebrated in most parts of the world on March 8. The program was presented this Friday at a press conference by the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, who invited the public to actively participate in these activities and thanked all individuals and entities collaborating in them.

Zaragozí explained that the program «will run from March 3 to 9, and each day there will be activities of very diverse content, with the aim of reaching the widest possible audience and making this celebration as broad and representative of Benidorm society as possible.»

The first event will take place next Monday, March 3, at 10 a.m., with the workshop «Emotional Empowerment for Women» led by psychologist Jessica Sanchis Buades, promoted by Anémona-Marina Baixa and held at the «Jelena» Social Center. To participate, registration is required at the Council for Equality.

On March 4, Tuesday, at 11 a.m., an exhibition of paintings by the Amas de Casa Benidorm will be inaugurated at the Marítim Cultural Center, open to the public and available for viewing until the 7th.

The following day, Wednesday, March 5, the program will be twofold. At 11 a.m., the Al Amal Esperanza Benidorm Association has organized an activity called «Creativity and Traditions of Moroccan Women,» which will include a tasting of pastries and Moroccan tea, a henna workshop, and a talk about Moroccan women who have excelled in various fields, aiming to «promote their culture and showcase cases of empowered women.» The activity will take place at the Jelena Social Center.

That same day, at 6 p.m. at the Casa del Fester, the Coral Canfali de las Amas de Casa de Benidorm will perform a Singing Concert.

On Thursday, March 6, at 8 p.m. in the Auditorium of the City Council, there will be a Concert-Conference as part of the Culture for Equality series organized jointly by the councils led by Jaime Jesús Pérez and Ángela Zaragozí. In this case, it is called ‘Identities’ and will be presented by Gema Martínez and Rosario Tur as speakers, with Marisa Blanes and María Eugenia Palomares performing on the piano. Zaragozí explained that the speakers will share «the legacy of great women in music, science, and society and how they managed to stand out in their respective fields despite the challenges of being a woman in their time, as an example of resilience and female talent.»

On Friday, March 7, there will also be a double program. In the morning, at 12 p.m., the commemorative banner for International Women’s Day will be displayed at the Benidorm City Council, while in the afternoon, a bus will be arranged to attend the XXIV Meeting of Women of the Marina Baixa, held this year in Polop. The councilor mentioned that the organization «has reserved 50 spots for Benidorm, so women interested in participating must register at the ‘Jelena’ Social Center.»

On March 8, Saturday, Anémona will once again organize the traditional Women’s Communal Meal, to be held at the restaurant of the Nautical Club. Tickets must be purchased at Anémona’s headquarters.

Finally, on Sunday, March 9, at 7 p.m., the play ‘Las couchers. Charlas de azucarillo’ will be performed as part of the Culture for Equality program.

The play will take place at the auditorium of the Cultural Center, and to attend, invitations must be collected in advance at the ‘Jelena’ Social Center during March 6 and 7.

«We are dedicating an entire week to celebrating this event, with a wide range of activities and a comprehensive program,» stated the Councilor for Equality during the presentation of these events. Ángela Zaragozí emphasized that the program «required a lot of time and coordination,» but clarified that it came together «because we work collaboratively with other departments and are open to all proposals,» inviting the public to «participate and enjoy» all these activities.
