The Corporation welcomes the representatives of the Fiesta in 2025, and the mayor emphasizes that the majority are part of a second generation of «foguerers»
Alicante, May 5, 2025. – «You are going to be the ambassadors of Alicante and its traditions in what will be the best year of your trajectory in Hogueras,» said Mayor Luis Barcala to the Belleas del Foc – adult and infant – 2025, Adriana Vico Melgar and Valentina Tárraga Quesada, and their respective Dames of Honor, during the reception offered by the Municipal Corporation after the weekend in which they were chosen.
María Carrión García (Carolinas Altas), Claudia Aroca Mira (La Florida), Lucía Gómez Barril (Polígono San Blas), Paula Nicolás Linares (Santo Domingo-Plaza de Tomás Valcárcel), Mireia Gaitán Navarro (L´Hamonia-San Gabriel), and Marta Lledó Pérez (Calderón de la Barca-Plaza de España) are the adult dames. As for the infants, Adriana Torres Martínez (Sagrada Familia), Sofía García Velasco (Baver-Els Antigons), Elma García Javaloyes (Gran Vía-Garbinet), Noa Torres García (José Ángel Guirao), Carla Vicedo Morote (Plaza de Santa María), and Alba Otero Sereix (Portuarios-Pla del Bon Repós).
Barcala has described the chosen group as «magnificent» representatives of Alicante and the Hogueras. He has highlighted that «most of you have grown up in the Fiesta and are part of the second generation of foguerers, which demonstrates your attachment and that of your families to the Fiesta.» At the same time, he emphasized that «we express the gratitude of the Municipal Corporation because you are well aware of what it means to assume this role, which entails taking a break in your lives to dedicate it to Alicante.»
Second Bellea of Diputació-Renfe
Adriana Vico Melgar is the 89th Bellea del Foc in the history of the Hogueras. She has also become the second in the list of Diputació-Renfe. The first was Elena García Caballero in 2012. Calderón de la Barca-Plaza de España, the district represented by Marta Lledó Pérez, now has 10 Dames del Foc. The first one was Antoñita Torres (1933), and the last one was her sister in 2019. Nine Dames make up the ‘de Foc’ relationship of Carolinas Altas, represented in 2025 by María Carrión. It was opened by María Luisa Valero (1947) and closed by Esther Rico until Saturday (2006).
La Florida has four Dames del Foc, including Claudia Aroca Mira. This list was opened by Encarnita Pascual (Pregonera de las Hogueras 2023) in 1966, and it was closed by Encarnita Llorens until Saturday (1978). In the case of Polígono San Blas, there are two: Lucía Gómez in 2025 and Raquel Fernández in 2007. Paula Nicolás and Mireia Gaitán have started this relationship for Santo Domingo-Plaza de Tomás Valcárcel and L´Harmonia-San Gabriel.
The first of Rabassa
Valentina Tárraga Quesada, the 66th Bellea del Foc Infantil in the history of the Hogueras, is the first one from the Rabassa hoguera. She is the daughter of the vice president of Image, Communication, and Promotion of the Fiesta of the Federació, Inés Quesada García, who was also Bellea del Foc in 2008 representing San Blas Alto. Her aunt, Lourdes Tárraga Muñoz, was Dama del Foc in 2004 with Rabassa. Also, for the first time, the hogueras José Ángel Guirao with Noa Torres García, and Portuarios-Pla del Bon Repós with Alba Otero Sereix, are included in this list of Dames del Foc Infantiles.
Among the chosen ones last weekend, Baver-Els Antigons is the hoguera with the most Dames del Foc Infantiles. There are seven in total, from Andrea Martínez (2021) to the current Sofía García Velasco. They are followed by Sagrada Familia and Plaza de Santa María, with four each. In the case of Sagrada Familia, it was opened by Mari Carmen Rodríguez in 1979 and closed by Adriana Torres Martínez. As for Plaza de Santa María, Noelia Bañuls in 1994 and the recently chosen Carla Vicedo Morote are part of it. Gran Vía-Garbinet has two Dames del Foc Infantiles. The first one was Victoria Esteve in 2015, and after a ten-year hiatus, Elma García Javaloyes joined.
