Reconocimiento a colaboradores y Fiesta de Interés Turístico Nacional

La Asociación Cultural Recreativa La Barqueta celebrated last night an event to recognize all the individuals and entities that have helped and collaborated with the association throughout its history, which now reaches 54 years. The event took place in a packed Auditorium of the Benidorm City Hall, with the attendance of all the distinguished guests, serving as a prelude to a weekend full of activities to commemorate March 16, the day of the city’s patron saint, Mare de Dèu del Sofratge.

La Barqueta’s rondalla also performed at the event, playing various pieces in between the numerous acknowledgments and distinctions. The program included works such as ‘Pepe Bayona’, ‘La canción de Solveig’, ‘La Aurora’, ‘Rapsodia valenciana’, ‘recuerdos de la Alhambra’, and a rondalla adaptation of the pasodoble ‘La Barqueta’ by Rovira Peretó.

At the event, led by La Barqueta members Jaime Lloret and Ángela Llinares, a large part of the local government was present, with Mayor Toni Pérez leading the way: regional deputy José Ramón González de Zárate; regional Housing Secretary Sebastián Fernández; Festes Majors queens Paula Sánchez and Aitana Pérez; Comisió president Susana Martínez; Associació de Penyes president Jonathan López; La Barqueta members, Hallazgo actors, and various cultural entities. From the outset, the Cultural Recreational Association members made it clear that they will continue to advocate for the Hallazgo to be declared of National Tourist Interest. «We are just a few steps away from achieving it, and we will comply with all requirements,» they stated.

La Barqueta then proceeded with the recognitions, which were awarded to the Association of Peñas and the Commission of Festes Majors Patronals, the Education Department, the Municipal Archive, the Nautical Club, the firefighters and the Local Police, San Jaime’s parish priest Juan Antonio González, the Nadal Aznar, Pérez Aguilar, and Puchades families, the Technical Services Department, and artist Miguel Ribes Sogorb. Also honored were the actresses, queens, and ladies who participated in the Hallazgo, the Fiestas and Culture Departments, Pere María Orts –whose distinction was accepted by his nephew Vicente Ibáñez Orts–, the 1971 Commission, Hallazgo actor Pedro Devesa (the only one who has been there since the beginning), Juan Calvo, a member of La Barqueta’s first board, and sailors Josemi Martínez, Miguel Signes, and Vicente Martínez Rostoll. Angela Barceló, Matías Pérez Such, Sebastián Fernández, the Alicante Provincial Council, and the Generalitat were also recognized, with their awards collected by Mayor and Provincial Council President Toni Pérez, and deputy José Ramón González de Zárate. The final recognition went to the people of Benidorm, accepted by the city’s mayor.

Following the awards, the association’s website, created by Miguel Ángel García, Maca, was presented. The website is available in Spanish, Valencian, and English, accessible from any device at www.acrlabarqueta.org.

On the new website, visitors will find La Barqueta’s activities, literary contributions, photographs, archives, and more. «We also compile historical writings to make the website recognizable everywhere, an open door to the infinite world of the internet, very user-friendly, with contributions from anyone who wishes to participate,» explained Jaime Lloret.

The event concluded with the mayor highlighting «exceptional moments that changed the history of this town, like that March 16, with the Hallazgo.» The mayor mentioned that Pere María Orts i Bosch later confirmed it. «One of his works is the script of the Hallazgo that La Barqueta performs,» he stated, emphasizing the pursuit of a higher recognition, that of National Tourist Interest, with the municipality doing its best to make it a reality.

He also encouraged everyone to attend the weekend events. «Tomorrow we have the Offering, and on Sunday we will accompany it, once again, to our patron saint. Benidorm will be there, tomorrow and Sunday,» he added. Toni Pérez concluded by stating, «Few will forget what you have made us feel from La Barqueta over these five decades. Thank you.»
