Renovación del balizamiento en playas de Alicante con canales de nado

The new contract is put out to tender with a base budget of 300,000 euros for two years to cover the entire coastline and advances in the protection of the seabed with ecological buoys in Tabarca and Cabo de las Huertas

Alicante, February 20, 2025. The Alicante City Council renews the marking of all beaches to delimit the areas for bathers and boats, including open water swimming channels in San Juan and Albufereta, as well as a safe diving area in Cabo de las Huertas. Furthermore, the specification advances in environmental protection and seabed protection with the installation of ecological buoys that have special anchors on Tabarca Island and Cabo de las Huertas.

The Councilors of Infrastructure, Cristina García, and Tourism, Ana Poquet, have both emphasized that «safety on our beaches is fundamental, and with the new contract, improvements and signage are included to enjoy swimming with all guarantees.»

The new contract was put out to tender this Thursday with a base budget of 298,397 euros for two years, extendable for three more annual periods, that is, for a maximum of five years.

The scope of the contract covers the entire coastline of the municipal area. The beaches to be marked are San Juan, La Almadraba, Albufereta and Finca Adoc, Postiguet and Cocó, San Gabriel, Urbanova, Tabarca, and the safe diving area between Cabo de las Huertas and Cala de los Judíos.

The tasks to be carried out by the awarded company include marking the coastal strip to delimit the bathing area on the beaches; creating nautical access channels that connect the navigable area with the beach for the use of boats and lifeguard service; marking a swimming channel for open water swimming on San Juan beach -temporary- and on Albufereta beach -permanent-; marking the perimeter for the protection of the breakwaters at Postiguet and San Gabriel beaches; and marking a safe diving area in Cabo de las Huertas.

Special bathing areas will also be marked for seniors, people with reduced mobility, and disabilities in the designated zones. The necessary signage and signage will be placed at all coastal points where information needs to be provided to users.

The open water swimming channels will be set up in the case of San Juan for about 500 meters in length at a distance of 150 meters from the coast with buoys every 50 meters. And in Albufereta, it will be about 2,000 meters, also at 150 meters from the coast.

Improvements are also being made to the safe diving area in Cabo de las Huertas, demanded by enthusiasts practicing this sport near Cala de los Judíos. It will be carried out with a marking of about 3,000 meters in length at 150 meters from the coast with buoys every 50 meters and closing of the coastal strip up to the shore.
