The Department of Social Welfare of the Alicante City Council has launched a call for grants to non-profit organizations that develop volunteer projects in the municipality in 2025, with a total budget of 30,000 euros.
«We want to recognize and promote the work that volunteers do every day, dedicating their time to others selflessly and making Alicante a better and more solidarity city,» highlighted the Councilor for Social Welfare, Begoña León, as reported by the City Council in a statement.
León emphasized that «grants to non-profit organizations that promote volunteering are a way to collaborate and promote this necessary work.»
The municipal grants regulated in this call aim to promote the design, planning, and implementation of volunteer projects in Alicante that contribute to achieving the strategic areas outlined in the Municipal Volunteer Strategic Plan of the City Council 2021-2025, mainly in the areas of training, internal management, information and communication technologies, networking, internal and external participation, media, transparency, and best practices.
PROMOTING PARTICIPATION
Projects that develop actions and activities to promote, create, motivate, and retain new forms of volunteer participation in any of the mentioned areas will be subsidized. Direct intervention actions by volunteers may be involved, and for training projects, as long as they are directly related to the activities to be carried out by the volunteer within specific intervention projects of the entity.
The total amount of the call is 30,000 euros, and each project will receive a maximum of 3,000 euros. The grant amount will be paid in a single installment after the corresponding activity justification.
Among other requirements, the bases establish that the requesting entities must be registered in the municipal registry of entities of the Alicante City Council, have among their institutional purposes the promotion and encouragement of volunteering, and have been carrying out volunteer activities in Alicante regularly and for at least a year.
The beneficiary entities and the amounts received will be determined based on established criteria, including the entity’s experience and capacity, as well as the evaluation of the project in general and, specifically, its promotion of volunteering.
The deadline for submitting applications will be 15 business days from the day following the publication of these bases in the Official Provincial Gazette. The application form will be available on the municipal website.
